The Star Wars Battlefront Reboot – What We Know and What We Hope For

Hey everyone,

With the Star Wars: Battlefront Reboot reveal at Star Wars Celebration imminent, I thought I ‘d give a refresher on what we know so far about the reboot and also talk about what I hope will be in the game.

What Do We Know?

The Battlefront Updates Website has a good summary of what we know about the Reboot so far. The screen grab below was taken from part of the article.

One point I want to emphasise is that it is not Battlefront 3 as many refer to it. It is a complete reboot of the franchise. It will be on the newest consoles and on PC and will feature locations and elements we are familiar with from the previous games.

What I Would Love to See in Star Wars Battlefront

Maps

It would be great to see some of the classic maps from the old games, especially ones depicting  prominent places in the Star Wars Franchise, re-imagined. Classic maps that I’d like to see include Death Star, Bespin and Yavin (we already know Hoth, Tatooine and Endor are in the game). game informer stormtrooper imageIt would be great to also see some new places for us to explore shoot up not in the previous games as well.

Maybe we’ll even see the new planet announced at Star Wars Celebration, Jakku, make an appearance. That ship wrecked landscape, as seen in the latest The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer, would make a really cool map for both land battles and for flying around!

The ability to destroy the environment, to some extent, would be great as well.

Combat

I want to see the same combat we’re familiar with, obviously improved upon, along with the different classes and the chance to play as heroes from the Star Wars Franchise. Having the same array of vehicles and turrets to use as from the previous games at a minimum would be great to see. At the same time I would love to see some new vehicles and classes added that we can experience.

Space Combat

Hopefully they improve on the space combat. It would be great to see the new possibilities with the Frostbite 3 Engine. The space combat in Battlefront II was fantastic and hopefully they can add something new to it. I always loved the simplicity of it which made it so much fun. Hopefully we can take part in some familiar space battles and maybe even some new ones.
