My favourite things in the Road Map

PvP

I really like that there was an emphasis on PvP stuff. I can’t wait to hear more about the new Warzone and I like that they want to put more effort into Ranked Arenas (the rewards, timing etc.). I hope they do make Unassembled Components Legacy Bound as soon as they can because that would be amazing.

New Stronghold, QoL Changes and Events

I am also looking forward to the new Stronghold, the ability to search for decorations with filters, Speeder speed upgrades and Command Experience increase perk for alts. I’m excited about the possibility of getting a new Event and new rewards for existing Events (cause there’s seriously no reason for me to do them all the damn time except when I run out of Grey Helix Components).

Class Changes

I have to admit that I am feeling a little nervous about all the Class Changes. I really hope they don’t nerf my beloved Mercenary Bodyguard Healing. The spec is in a pretty great place right now and I don’t really want to see it change for the worst. I do hope that Powertech’s and Sorcerer’s (DPS) get the buffs they deserve.

What was missing from the Road Map?

Server Merges / Cross-server / Mega Server

I know this was a long shot but it is a shame to see no mention of any measures to combat the low population experienced on many servers. Consolidating SWTOR’s population further would produce endless opportunities for expanding content (make Ranked Arena ELO actually work, bring back 8v8 Ranked) and ensure 24/7 queue pops for all content.

PvE (8+ man)

It sounds like when it comes to Operations at least they’re sticking with what they’re already doing. Releasing a new boss every few months. This isn’t really all that surprising, to be honest. There was no mention of Master Mode Tyth being released in conjunction with Aivela and Esne which is concerning.

Gearing

While they have gradually been making improvements to gearing for End Game and PvP, I still feel there is more they can do to make things better and revert it back to the way things were before 5.0. They really need to make it so 248 gear is a guaranteed drop from Master Mode (NIM) Operations for starters. As it stands the only way for Raiders to get 248 Gear is to grind PvP or have good RNG and this is unacceptable. They are adding platinum drops to certain Veteran and Master Mode Operation Bosses at some point. I’m not sure what that means though but I don’t think it’s gear? Probably fluff Cartel Market Items.

I don’t believe it is necessary to complete get rid of the RNG Gearing system but I would like to see the old methods of gearing fully return to the game. You should be able to earn some sort of currency playing the game that allows you to buy the gear you need. Making Tier 1 Gear purchasable with Command Tokens doesn’t go far enough.

It’s pretty obvious the new Stronghold is here! A lot of oceans to view here!

Overall I am feeling pretty good about the future of the game. I am very much looking forward to seeing the weekly posts about various features they’re working on. Is the Road Map going to have any effect on how often I play the game? Probably not. I’m still going to split my time between SWTOR and ESO and possibly Wildstar. But at least I have more things to look forward to in SWTOR.
