A weekly series where I keep track of everything new SWTOR Game Producer, Keith Kanneg and other SWTOR Developers say.
To learn more about Keith, see my A New Hope – SWTOR’s New Game Producer Post.
We didn’t hear from Charles Boyd this week. But we did hear from Keith a few times about various issues including why there’s been more maintenance than usual lately. Here’s what he had to say:
Keith came onto the forums late on Monday and clarified that they wouldn’t be adding another tier of gear to Galactic Command anytime soon (click on the image to enlarge).
He also joked with a player about the dangers of increased speeder piloting.
He responded to player concerns about maintenance happening on Thursday and explained why there had been a lot of maintenance lately.
He once again apologised for the timing of maintenance.
He even brought in Donuts for the maintenance team.
And finally, he confirmed that it was still planned for the Road Map to be released in May.
I guess we won’t be getting the Road Map until Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday next week (hopefully not later). I am getting anxious to see the Road Map and I can’t help but feel a little excited. But at the same time, I’m trying to keep my expectations in check. Although this is proving difficult given Keith’s excellent communication efforts. I can’t help but feel hopeful.
At the same time, I am worried that there are those in the community who are placing ridiculously high expectations on the Road Map. I would be very wary of suddenly expecting everything we want to be in the Road Map. Excellent communication from a Game Producer (which has been in a lot of ways unprecedented for SWTOR) does not mean that the Road Map will be good. Just because Keith is a player and understands a lot of the issues the game has does not mean he can fix them all overnight or that they’ll be included in the Road Map.
I for one won’t be expecting the galaxy from Keith. I am excited for the Road Map but don’t have very high expectations for it. Regardless of what happens with the Road Map, I will still be appreciative and impressed by Keith’s communication efforts and by how many barriers he’s broken down since becoming Game Producer.
Are you also getting anxious to see the Road Map? Are you satisfied with Keith’s continued communication efforts?
