Celebrating 40 Years of Star Wars – What Star Wars has Meant to Me

I haven’t even been alive for as long as Star Wars has existed. I was introduced to Star Wars by my family in my early Teens. They showed me the Original Trilogy films, first, in the Prequel Trilogy Era.

I’ve been hooked ever since.

I saw Revenge of the Sith at the cinema, my first Star Wars Film on the big screen. I’ve watched the Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. I loved the new Star Wars films, The Force Awakens and Rogue One. I’ve played countless Star Wars Video Games. I am beyond excited for the future of the franchise.

It literally changed my life.

I met my significant other (also a massive Star Wars fan). We met through the MMO Star Wars The Old Republic. Some of my long time Twitter followers and/or others who have gotten to know me personally will already be familiar with the story. Over 2 years in a long distance relationship before we even met in person in Australia. What kept us together for so long was our mutual love of Star Wars and SWTOR. I then moved to the US last year and we’ve been living together ever since.

If it weren’t for George Lucas creating the Star Wars universe I would never have met so many amazing people and has so many fun, heart warming experiences. I am eternally grateful to him and to all the many other people who have been involved with Star Wars over the years.

I am also grateful to the developers of Star Wars The Old Republic for creating the game that allowed me to meet my significant other. The game will always have a special place in my heart.

Star Wars means the galaxy to me. It is a big part of my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Here’s to another 40 years of Star Wars!

What’s your Star Wars story? How did you get introduced to Star Wars?
